Jeff started his career at Ingalls Hospital which is now a part of University of Chicago Medicine. He developed and executed an ambulatory healthcare strategy which included Urgent Aid, Ambulatory Surgery, Imaging, and physician offices throughout South Metropolitan Chicago. The strategy expanded the hospital service area and created a sustainable marketing channel for the health system. The strategy included a robust hospital-employed physician model which gained national recognition. This work led to the founding of Health Directions. Health Directions was a pioneer in formation of MSOs, hospital employed physician groups and integrated delivery systems. Jeff then founded Surgical Directions, LLC which has helped over 600 hospitals improve perioperative performance.

Jeff is a national speaker and has published numerous articles. Over the past 40 years, Jeff has successfully helped hundreds of physician, hospital, and academic groups in the areas of strategy/growth, acquisition, leadership operations, financial improvement, recruitment/retention, and stipend negotiations. His work has shaped the way ambulatory and surgical care is organized and delivered in the United States.
